280Hz Cord-Start Powerball® Gyroscope – utilises the original string-starting technique. Ideal for rehab, sport or anyone looking to improve arm, wrist or grip strength.
DO THESE POWERBALLS REQUIRE A CORD TO START?
Yes, Cord-Start Powerballs require a cord to start. Every Cord-Start Powerball comes with 2 included cords. Simply insert the tip of the cord into the hole in the Powerball rotor; wind the cord around the rotor until there is about 3-4cm of cord remaining, then pull the cord out. The pull of the cord should activate the rotor if done correctly.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CORD-START AND AUTOSTART POWERBALL?
Cord-start Powerballs require a string or cord to start them, while Autostart models can be activated using a simple wind-and-release technique. Cord-start Powerballs are the original Powerball model and have been on the market for over 20 years.
If you’re a fan of the classics and don’t mind using a cord to start your Powerball, then this model could be for you. If you’d rather have access to quick and easy starts in seconds though, we recommend you check out our Autostart range.

ARE THESE MODELS SUITABLE FOR REHABILITATION?
All of our 280Hz Powerball models are suitable for rehabilitation - in fact, they are amazing at it.
If you’re feeling pain or discomfort in your hand or upper arm - or, if you’ve recently had an injury in this area, then Powerball is for you.
Gently spinning Powerball boosts the circulation of oxygen and nutrients to inflamed or sore areas of the arm (fingers, hand, wrist, forearm and elbow). This in turn relieves pain and repairs the muscle fibres.
It’s important to note that Powerball is a non-impact form of exercise. It’s isometric, which means it will never cause damage or worsen an injury when you use it.
WHAT PARTS OF THE BODY DOES POWERBALL STRENGTHEN?Powerball strengthens the entire kinetic chain of the arm - from fingertip right up to shoulder. 280Hz Powerballs can be used for both strengthening and rehabilitation. However, If you’re interested in serious strengthening only, then we would recommend taking a look at our Metal Series Powerballs as well, as these are built for pure strength training.
Strengthen your wrists for effective injury prevention, develop incredible grip strength and build muscle mass in the arms and shoulders - it’s as easy as picking up a Powerball.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE POWERBALL?How often you use Powerball depends entirely on your level of fitness. We recommend using Powerball for at least 3 minutes a day for strengthening purposes. For rehabilitation purposes, we recommend using Powerball for at least 30 seconds (or as much as your injury will allow) and gradually building up to 3-5 minutes from there.
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE LCD SPEED COUNTER?280Hz Cord-Start Pro models feature a 4-mode LCD speed counter for keeping track of your strength and endurance gains. Monitoring your spin speeds will also help you to measure your strengthening progress and endurance gains. What’s more, the Powerball speed counter records and saves your highest spin speeds so that you can constantly improve on your results and compete against friends for the top score.
ARE BATTERIES REQUIRED TO OPERATE THESE PRODUCTS?No batteries are required to operate these products. Powerball is powered solely by the rotation of your wrist. The LCD speed counter on the other hand, is powered by the magnetic inertia generated by the spinning rotor.
