Client Install: Thurles Sarsfields GAA
RPM Power was incredibly proud to collaborate with Thurles Sarsfields GAA Club on the design and installation of their new training facility. As a company based in Thurles ourselves, this project carried a special significance for our team. Working with one of the town’s most historic and successful clubs made this installation particularly rewarding.
Founded in the late 19th century, Thurles Sarsfields is one of the most decorated clubs in Tipperary, with a long and proud tradition in both hurling and Gaelic football and a reputation as the county’s most successful club in the senior championship. With such a rich sporting heritage and a strong focus on player development across multiple teams, the opportunity to help support the club’s future athletes through a modern training space was something we were delighted to be involved in.
A local collaboration
As both organisations are based in Thurles, this project was built on a strong sense of community and collaboration. The RPM Commercial Services team worked closely with the facilities managers at Sars to create a practical and high-performance training environment that could support the needs of GAA athletes.
As the gym would be used for solo workouts and team training sessions, it was vital that the gym be set up to accommodate both. The goal was to create a space that remained flexible enough for individual workouts but was optimised to allow multiple players to train efficiently at the same time when needed.
Strength & conditioning equipment for teams
As part of the layout planning, our team advised Sarsfields on the types of fitness equipment that might be best suited to the demands of high-level team sport.
The final club gym setup was largely based around key strength-training stations made up of squat racks such as the Squat Rack Ultra and Wall-Mounted Squat Rack, weight plates, barbells and heavy-duty U4200 Weight Benches. Additional wall-mounted storage pegs for holding weight plates were also installed to save on space and keep the facility organised and hazard-free.
For sessions focused on explosive movements and team-based conditioning, the Air Bike Elite, Stackable Plyometric Boxes and medicine balls were chosen as part of the final setup. Each piece of equipment was selected with durability and performance in mind, ensuring the gym can handle regular use by teams throughout the season.
Installation & Setup
Our Gym Installation team personally delivered, assembled and quality tested each product that was part of this commercial gym order. The result: a modern training facility that supports the ongoing development of players across the club both during and outside the competitive season.
For our team at RPM Power, this project was about more than just installing equipment, it was about contributing to a club that sits at the heart of our own community. With hundreds of members involved across hurling, camogie and Gaelic football, facilities like this play an important role in preparing athletes and supporting the long-term success of a sports club, and we were delighted to play a part in it coming together.
